WebOzone (O 3) is a reactive gas that exists in two layers of the atmosphere: the stratosphere (upper layer) and the troposphere (at ground level and up to 15km). In the stratosphere, ozone protects life on Earth from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. WebOzone has a short half-life, and consequently interaction with mammals is limited to an air-fluid interface, such as the mucous membranes of the upper airway, the respiratory tract, or the eye. Because ozone is not very water soluble, it can penetrate to deep areas of the respiratory tract.
