A brook should really be a 1/7 water flow on the surface, but obviously that wouldn't work due to evaporation. Also it wouldn't stay on its original path without being in a deep channel, which is not very brooklike. Logged.

Then design a drainage system under the river using hatch-gates and such. Have it drain into a cavern. This is more of a fun project than a practical solution for every fortress. Logged.
